Panasonic Energy NA recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at their massive $4 billion battery plant in De Soto, Kansas. This investment by Panasonic is the single largest private investment in the state’s history.
As part of the event, the Heavy Duty Tern RC8 was featured alongside passenger car offerings from Lucid and Tesla, underscoring the technology leaders in their respective markets. At full capacity, the 4.7 million-square-foot battery factory will produce 70 batteries per second for Tesla, Lucid, Tern Trucks / Hexagon Purus, and Harbinger Motors.
In addition to supplying batteries for Tern, Panasonic will be using the RC8 to shuttle batteries between their facilities in De Soto, replacing older diesel-powered equipment with next-generation technology.

The Play&Co team is proud to see the results of our partnership with Hexagon Purus playing an important role in the growing demand for electric vehicles in the US. Investments like these have huge value for manufacturers and consumers of electric vehicles, and more importantly, they create many high quality jobs for the communities in which they’re located.
Play&Co partnered with Hexagon Purus to strategize, design, develop, and launch the Tern Trucks brand and led the product design for the RC8.
